Vice Presidential Debate 2020

Tickets will be available but we do not yet know how many will be allotted and how they will be issued. We anticipate that information will be released by the Commission on Presidential Debates — the governing body of this event — sometime in mid to late September at the earliest.

Until that time, please continue to check back to the Debate2020.utah.edu website. This page will be updated with more information as the University receives it.

2020’S ONLY VICE PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE

The nonpartisan, nonprofit Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD) selected the University of Utah to host the vice presidential debate on Oct. 7, 2020, at Kingsbury Hall, Nancy Peery Marriott Auditorium.

The CPD will announce additional details about the only 2020 vice presidential debate, including format and moderators, in 2020. The debate will start at 9:00pm ET / 7:00pm MT and will run for 90 minutes without commercial interruption.

The CPD was established in 1987 and has sponsored and produced all general election presidential and vice presidential debates since then. The CPD receives no funding from the government or any political party or campaign.

The 2020 vice presidential debate is made possible through a partnership with the University of Utah’s Hinckley Institute of Politics and the Utah Debate Commission.
